Drivers in the Houston area should expect several weekend road closures and lane closures that could slow traffic, including a full closure of northbound US-59 in Fort Bend County.
TxDOT also plans overnight lane closures on the westbound East Freeway and a weekend closure of a southbound East Beltway 8 exit ramp near SH-225.
US-59 Northbound Closure in Fort Bend County
Northbound US-59 between Williams Trace Boulevard and Kirkwood Drive in Fort Bend County is scheduled to close from 9 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday.
TxDOT is directing drivers to use Exit 112 for US-90A as an alternate route. Drivers can then use the West Airport/Kirkwood Drive entrance ramp to continue north.
The closure is expected to affect traffic throughout the weekend. Drivers using this section of US-59 should allow extra travel time and follow the posted detour signs.
East Beltway 8 Exit Ramp Closure
A southbound exit ramp on East Beltway 8 near SH-225 will be closed continuously from 5 a.m. Saturday until 11 p.m. Sunday, according to TxDOT.
Drivers will be redirected to use Red Bluff/Pasadena Boulevard as an alternate route.
Overnight Closures on the East Freeway
Drivers on westbound IH-10 East Freeway will also encounter overnight lane closures during the weekend.
TxDOT said the three outside lanes will close each night from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m., with the closures continuing from Friday evening through Monday morning.
Drivers traveling through these areas should follow posted detour signs and allow extra time for their trips.
